Bathroom

  • Shower curtains
    • Shower curtains and liners are machine washable. Check the label and try washing before spending too much time scrubbing.
  • Shower
    • Keep a brillo brush or something similar in your shower.
    • Every 2 weeks when you hop in the shower, run the brush over the walls before you get out.
    • This will take a little longer the first cleaning. After that it goes super quick.
  • Toilet
    • Keep a bottle of hydrogen peroxide under your bathroom sink. It is less harsh than other cleaners. It works great to spray some on the inside of the toilet and let sit. Then spray the outside and wipe with paper towels. Scrub the inside and voila. Clean toilet.
  • Baking soda is another inside toilet cleaning option. Sprinkle baking soda inside the toilet, spray vinegar over the top of that. Let mixture sit 30 minutes, then scrub.

Dusting/Wiping

  • Sock on Swiffer
    • Use for dusting baseboards, light fixtures, or hard-to-reach areas.
  • Dryer sheets for dusting
    • Great for baseboards and places that get dusty easily.
    • First wipe with a damp cloth, then run over with the dryer sheet.
    • The static from the sheet repels the dust to the ground, and then it can be vacuumed or swept up like normal.
  • Windows
    • Coffee filters work great for keeping windows streak-free.
    • Wipe with a damp cloth to get bigger dirt off, then use filter.

  • Lampshades and curtains
    • Lint rollers work great for flat lampshades. It can be really tough to get the dust off of this cloth-like material.
    • Lint rollers also work great for fuzzies on curtains.

Household Items

  • Mattress
    • Refresh the mattress by sprinkling baking soda.
    • Leave sit for 15-30 minutes and then vacuum off.
  • Shoe stains
    • Use nail polish remover.
    • Test on a small area first. Dab on a small cloth and rub.
