You are rushing out the door, get everyone buckled, start driving and…..boom you realize you forgot….fill in the blank.
Sometimes this item is really important, and sometimes it is not absolutely necessary but would really be nice to have.
I have slowly been building a stash of items in the center counsel of our mini van every time I hear a “do we have any ___in here?” This stash is totally customizable to your family. Let my list be a starting point and then you can add your own items as you need them.
- Tissues/Wipes-Explosive sneezes sneak up when you least expect it! Tissues can be a life saver on a long drive. Wipes are great to have to little spills or sticky hands after a snack! A few diapers can be added if you have young children for those times the diaper bag gets lost in the shuffle.
- Ice cream pail– tummy aches….enough said!
- Microfiber cloths-I like to use one for dusting the dashboard and touch screen/buttons. The other one I like to use for wiping fingerprints, ect off of the inside windows. I usually do this during car washes or waiting in line at school pickup.
- Lint Roller-It is amazing how those tiny little fuzzies can stick out like a sore thumb on crisp black pants or your fancy work outfit. My biggest struggle is hair! I shed like crazy! I love having the lint roller at the ready to run over the back of my coat.
- Toothpicks-Why is it so hard to stop thinking about something that is so tiny between your teeth!
- Chapstick–
- Ibuprofen-We try not to take medication as much as possible, but this has come in handy for a couple of unexpected headaches for myself and a time we were traveling and my daughter had a fever pop up really fast.
- Lotion-Dry hands are a struggle especially in the cold winter months in our family. I love keeping a small bottle of lotion in our car.
- Car bag for Kids-books, notepad, pencils
I hope this list helps you feel more prepared and saves the day in a pinch! I know it has helped me for sure!
